TURN YOUR CURTAINS INTO CUSTOM DRAPES! IKEA HACK

I love expensive things. There, I said it! But when something looks expensive, feels expensive… but is pretty dang NOT… that’s just a whole new level of love. Today I’m sharing one of my favorite hacks to make your IKEA curtains look like custom drapes!

Follow below, I’ll link everything you need to recreate the look in your own homes!

Supplies for two panels:

One pair of IKEA Ritva Curtains

2 Packages of Drapery Hooks

3 Packages of Drapery Rings

Starting from the left side of a curtain panel, insert a drapery hook into the first set of tabs on the far side. This will help your drapes to lay flat when hung!

Next, insert just the left side of a drapery hook into the tabs right next to the pocket rod loop.

Here’s the fun part: count 8 more tabs & then insert the right side of the hook into that line of tabs. Every time there’s a loop for the pocket rod, start the process over. Left side, count 8, right side. When you get to the end, add another hook like you did at the beginning. If you do this spacing, you’ll need 11 hooks per panel. You could do bigger spaces for a more dramatic pleat!

By skipping tabs, you create a perfect single pinch pleat in your drapes!

Pause and admire your craftsmanship.

After you’ve placed all the drapery hooks into the tabs, take your package of rings & attach the hooks that come with them. Hang them on your rod.

Last step! Hang the drapery hooks from the ring hooks & boom, baby! You’ve got yourself some beautiful looking drapes.
